Interesting fact:
Chaplin was intent on directing, producing and acting in his own films. He persuaded the boss of Keystone Studio to let him direct a film in 1914 by promising to give him $1500 if it failed. Luckily it was a big hit and from then on, he continued to direct most of the films he appeared in.
