You may be familiar with the term “dumping fuel” when airliners are forced to make emergency landings. In some cases, the pilot must dump fuel in order to avoid a dangerous excessive aircraft weight if landing at places where the conditions are not suitable. It may sound dangerous in itself to dump fuel, but when done at such a high altitude the fuel in fact evaporates and does not reach the ground.
