Interesting fact:

The earliest found artistic representation of an angel doesn’t have wings. The wall painting found in the Catacomb of Priscilla, a quarry used for Christian burials in the 3rd century, depicts the angel Gabriel without wings. It was not until the next century that artists would add wings to these heavenly beings.
