The civics test is not the only part of the application process for becoming a U.S. citizen, and it is not even the only test on interview day. On the day of the naturalization interview, a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Officer will ask questions about one’s application and background. There is also an English test with three components: reading, writing, and speaking. There are rare cases where one can qualify for an exemption or waiver from the English and civics test.
