Every year on April 30 modern witches from all over the world come to gather at Blocksberg in the Harz Mountains. The event in northern Germany is to celebrate Walpurgis Night, famously mentioned in Goethe’s “Faust”. The custom dates all the way back to Saint Walpurga (710-779), the patron saint of plague, rabies and superstition.
